Jaipur. In a bizarre incident that reflects extreme fanaticism, a man hacked a migrant labourer from West Bengal to death and set him ablaze for allegedly having an affair with a local woman. He got his criminal act and an “appeal” to Hindus to protect their girls against “love jihad’ recorded.

Shambunath Raigar, who murdered Mohammad Afrazul (47) in Rajsamand district of Rajasthan, later uploaded the video of his criminal act and “appeal” on the social media.

Police recovered the half-charred body of Afrazul on Wednesday and arrested Raigar along with his 14-year-old nephew, who helped him record the heinous crime, after the video went viral in social media.

Condemning the incident, Rajasthan home minister Gulabchand Kataria said a special investigation team would probe the matter.

“How can people be so inhuman. Sad,” West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee wrote on Twitter.

Office of RG, the official Twitter handle of Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, slammed chief minister Vasundhara Raje for recurrence of brutal crimes against the minorities. “Utter shame on you CM @VasundharaBJP !! How dare that guy making video and threatening Indians. That means in Rajasthan there is no law for BJP supporters. These crass goons enjoy full support of Raj. CM,” Gandhi tweeted.

“Modi govt and BJP state govts refuse to act and their inaction patronises such barbarity,” tweeted CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury.

Aam Aadmi Party leader Kumar Viswas, who is party in charge in Rajasthan, said chief minister Vasundhara Raje should be ashamed of brutal crimes against minorities by the Hindutva fringe elements. “Queen Vasundhara, this is the black earnings which your incapable government and intelligent people have given to this country of love. Even shame is embarrassed, but not you,” Viswas was quoted as saying in The Indian Express.

Rajasthan has witnessed a spate of crimes against the minorities, especially Muslims in the name of cow protection and love jihad since 2014.
