Norway. Announcement for the Noble Prize 2017 for Physics has been awarded to Rainer Weiss, Kip,S Thorne and Barry C Barish for their work on LIGO Laser Interferometer Gravitational-wave Observatory  for detecting gravitational waves.

The Noble Prize is an annual international award honoured by Sweden and Norway in the various categories i.e. Physics, Chemistry, Medicine, Economics, literature and Peace. Sweden honours all prizes except  Peace prize and Norway honours only peace prize. The prize were  first awarded in the year 1901,and the award ceremony organize annually i  Stockholm, Sweden and for the Peace prize in Oslo, Norway.

100 year ago ,Albert Einstein predicted and described in his general theory of relativity about the gravitational waves in the space time, which spreads with the speed of light, which can’t be measured and these three scientists got the achievement in measuring the gravitational wave, when it passes from the Earth. Success of LIGO – A Gigantic Interferometer is with all three scientists enthusiasm and work determination. They bring project to success and created a history.

The winner Kip S Thorne was born in 1940 and he is professor of Theoretical Physics at California Institute of Technology, Pasadena. Barry C Barish was born in the year 1936 in Omaha and he is Physics professor at the California Institute of Technology, Pasadena. The third ,Rainer Weiss was born in the year 1932 in Germany and he is a professor of Physics in Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Last years 2016 Nobel Prize for Physics was awarded to 3 men who “revealed the secret of exotic matter” by the David J Thouless, a professor in University of Washington, USA, F Duncan M Haldane from Princeton University, New Jersey, USA and J Michael Kosterlitz professor from  Brown University,RI, USA.

Next  announcement of Noble prize for Chemistry will be on Oct 4.
